Érdemes megfigyelni, mi is kerül többe a tengeren túl. A cipők, ruházati cikkek, kozmetikumok ára megegyező a romániaival, elektronikai eszközöket sokszor még olcsóbban lehet vásárolni, mint odahaza, viszont az alapélelmiszerek, a vízdíj és házvásárlás esetében Amerika gyakran többszörös árakat produkál. De a legdrágább dolog mégsem a saját konyhában hagymapucolás melletti vízivás, hanem az egyetemi képzés. Egyes felsőoktatási intézmények akár 47 ezer dollárt is elkérnek egy évre!</span><p style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"><span style="color:#48484a;display:block;font-family:nerislight;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;margin-bottom:19px;text-align:left;">Egy másik fontos faktor, ami közrejátszik az amerikaiak életében, az a távolság. Amerikában sehova se lehet sétálva menni, elsősorban mert minden nagyon távol van. Másodsorban pedig azért, mert nincs járda. Egyszerűen nincs járda! Egyszer megpróbáltam egy étteremtől a plázáig sétálni. Röpke fél órás séta – a Google Maps szerint. Csak egy gond akadt: a várost keresztbe átszelő gyorsforgalmi út mellett kellett haladnom, random boltok zöld füves előkertjeit átszelve, járda sehol! Ez egyetlen, roppant meghatározó dolgot jelent az itt élők számára: az autó létszükséglet. A közszállításról meg lehet feledkezni, annyira kevés busz jár. A nagy távolságok miatt senki se sétál, ami nagyban hozzájárul az elhízáshoz.</span></p><p style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"><span style="color:#48484a;display:block;font-family:nerislight;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;margin-bottom:19px;text-align:left;">A harmadik dolog, ami befolyásolja a mindennapokat, a fogyasztói társadalomra jellemző árubőség. Több mint húsz fajta müzli legyen a polcokon, epres és almás fantát is kínálnak és a csípős Skittles mindennapi dolognak számít, vagyis az indokolatlanul nagy (és számunkra fölöslegesnek tűnő) választék mindenben, de főleg lehetőségekben. Bármit csinálhatsz, mert a határ a csillagos ég, a lehetőségek tárháza végtelen, kezdve az olyan termékektől, amit csak Amerikában lehet beszerezni, az online rendelés egyszerűségén át, egészen az iskolai választható tantárgyakig.</span></p><p style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"><span style="color:#48484a;display:block;font-family:nerislight;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;margin-bottom:19px;text-align:left;">És akkor hogy is néz ki egy átlagos amerikai tinédzser napja? Reggel felkel, és miután elkészülődött, beül saját kocsijába, amit tizenhatodik szülinapjára kapott. Miért van szüksége egy tizenhat évesnek autóra? Mert a szülő dolgozik és a gyereknek el kell jutnia az iskolába, és nem jár iskolabusz abban a negyedben. Meg egyébként is: amikor moziba akar menni vagy csak lógni a barátokkal, nem kell a szülőnek taxisofőrt játszania. A suliba érve beül a saját maga által választott órákra, tanítás után pedig – tetszés szerint – az iskola valamelyik sportcsapatával edz, ami lehet foci, baseball, golf, úszás vagy akár súlyemelés is. Hazaérve gyorsan megírja a házi feladatot, miközben a barátaival tárgyalja, hol is kellene találkozniuk aznap délután: KFC-ben, Popeyesban, Church’s Chickenben vagy épp a Chick-fill-A-ben. (Mind csirkét áruló gyorséttermek). Amikor végre megegyeznek és már mindenki a választott étteremben ül, elkezdenek beszélgetni arról: ki milyen egyetemre megy, milyen ösztöndíjakra jelentkezett. Valaki azt mondja, hogy a szülei már születése óta az egyetemére gyűjtenek, egy másik azt, hogy sportösztöndíjban reménykedik, míg egy harmadik csak bejelenti, hogy egyáltalán nincs meg a megfelelő anyagi háttere az egyetemhez, annak ellenére, hogy tizenhat éves kora óta minden nap dolgozik iskola után.</span></p><p align="left" style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"><span style="color:#48484a;display:block;font-family:nerislight;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;margin-bottom:19px;text-align:left;">Amerika a kapitalizmus hazája. A szociáldarwinizmus az egyik legfontosabb alapelv. Alapnak tekintik a választékhoz való jogot, de ugyanakkor az is egyértelmű számukra, hogy az életben maradáshoz rengeteget kell dolgozni, akár még újév, karácsony vagy húsvét napján is. Aranyketrecbe zárt hörcsögök, mindenük megvan, de csak szaladnak a kis hörcsögkerékben.</span></p><p align="left" style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"> </p><p style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"> </p></p>\n"
