Ez a gyakorlatban azt jelenti, hogy az illegális migránsok ezrei-tízezrei nem hagyhatják el a gyűjtőközpontokat hónapokon vagy akár éveken keresztül, amíg a menedékkérelmüket el nem bírálják.</span></span></p><p style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"><span style="color:#48484a;display:block;font-family:nerislight;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;margin-bottom:19px;text-align:left;"><span>Barr rendelete része volt azoknak a kormányzati erőfeszítéseknek, amelyekkel Donald Trump elnök kormányzata szeretné féken tartani a menedékkérők tömeges beáramlását az amerikai-mexikói határon.</span></span></p><p style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"><span style="color:#48484a;display:block;font-family:nerislight;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;margin-bottom:19px;text-align:left;"><span>A miniszteri döntés ellen perkeresetet nyújtott be több civil szervezet, köztük az Amerikai Polgári Jogok Uniója (ACLU). Keresetük elfogadása és a jelenlegi gyakorlat betiltása indoklásakor Marsha Pechman azzal érvelt, hogy a rendelet sérti az Egyesült Államok alkotmányát, amely tiltja, hogy meghatározatlan ideig fogva tartsanak valakit, anélkül, hogy lehetőséget kapna az intézkedés jogszerű vitatására.</span></span></p><p style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"><span style="color:#48484a;display:block;font-family:nerislight;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;margin-bottom:19px;text-align:left;"><span>A perelő civil szervezetek elégedetten fogadták a bírói döntést. Matt Adams, a szintén perkérelmet benyújtó Északnyugati Migránsjogok Projektje nevű szervezet jogi igazgatója ugyancsak írásos közleményt tett közzé. "A bíróság most megerősítette azt, ami évtizedek óta működött: hogy az országba belépő menedékkérőknek joguk van az önkényes fogva tartástól mentes szabadsághoz" - fogalmazott a jogász.</span></span></p><p style="font-family:nerislight;color:#48484a;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;text-align:left;margin-bottom:19px;display:block;"><span style="color:#48484a;display:block;font-family:nerislight;font-size:16px;line-height:20px;margin-bottom:19px;text-align:left;"><span>Az Amnesty International (AI) közben arra szólította fel a kongresszust, hogy tartson nyilvános meghallgatásokat az emberi jogi szervezetek által "megfélemlítő kampánynak" nevezett és az illegális migráció visszaszorítását célzó kormányzati döntésekről.
