Az ismerkedésnek azonban nem épp a megszokott módját választja, nem kéri el a lány telefonszámát, nem hívja el vacsorázni, ehelyett az internet világához fordul, ahol felkeresi a lány összes adatlapját, megtalálja az otthonát, ahova el is jár, kukkolva őt. Nem riad vissza semmitől, többször is említi, hogy akármit megtenne a nőért, akit szeret, akármit, hogy tökéletes barátja lehessen. Az biztos, hogy nem beszél mellé, hiszen a végsőkig elmenne a lány szerelméért, lassan már ki akarja sajátítani, elválasztani azoktól, akik rajta kívül még szeretik, ebből azonban Beck semmit nem észlel.</p><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Így külsőre gondoskodó, figyelmes alaknak tűnik, olyasvalakinek, akire minden lány vágyik. Ezt látja meg benne Beck is, a fiúnak pedig sikerül elérnie, hogy beleszeressen. Az őszinte érzelmei, a gondoskodása elnyomják horrorisztikus cselekedeteit, éppen ezért nem vagyunk képesek utálni őt, sőt drukkolunk is nekik. Ennek valószínűleg az az oka, hogy az emberek alapvetően szeretik a szerelmi szálakat. „Ha látsz egy cuki találkozást egy könyvesboltban, azt akarod, hogy a végén összejöjjenek. Ha az első jelenetekben együtt látod őket, azt akarod, hogy a vége is ez legyen, még ha tudod is, hogy mit tesz Joe.” – fejtette ki ehhez kapcsolódóan Sera Gamble.</p><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Még a főszereplő irtózatos monológjai sem érik el azt a hatást, hogy negatív figuraként tekintsünk rá. Ezek a teljes sorozatot végigkísérik, hátborzongatóvá téve a jeleneteket, értelmet adva nekik. A Netflix, hogy rámutasson a monológok fontos szerepére, ezeket kivágva kiadott egy részletet, így nézve a sorozatot már szinte idegesítőnek is tűnnek a történések. Na de hogyan alakul Joe és Beck kapcsolata? Milyen határokig mehet el egy férfi gondoskodása, és milyen szerepet kap a rideg pince, ahol Joe antikvár könyveit tárolja? Annak persze örül, hogy ennyire jól sikerült megformálnia Joe karakterét, a rajongókhoz mégis volt egy üzenete:<strong> „Ne kérjetek olyat tőlem, hogy kövesselek és kukkoljalak titeket, hiszen ez egyáltalán nem olyan vicces történet. Joe, akit alakítok, egy veszélyes pszichopata, ráadásul gyilkos is. Ne legyetek rákattanva Joe-ra.”</strong> Azt is kifejtette, hogy a következő évadban megpróbál sokkal ijesztőbb lenni.</p><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Igen, lesz folytatása a sorozatnak, amire nem is kell olyan sokat várni, az ígéretek szerint már év végén felkerülnek az epizódok a Netflixre. Maga a rendező, Sera Gamble árulta el, hogy Joe karaktere kicsit más lesz a folytatásban, hiszen megbánta eddigi cselekedeteit, amiket jóvá akar tenni, viszont ez nem jelenti azt, hogy teljesen jó emberré fog válni.
